ABOUT NATTI

Natalia Alexandra Gutiérrez Batista, better know for her stage name, Natti Natasha, is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Always described as a cheerful and creative child, Natti showed interest and passion for music from a very young age, as she recalls watching TV with her sister and singing along to the tunes from cartoons and movies. At the early age of 8 years old, her parents enrolled her in the Bellas Artes school of Santiago, to nurture her talent and help her grow as a young artist. Since then, she only got more and more comfortable on stage, performing with her school and church choirs, and becoming her family’s entertainment at special occasions and birthdays. With a big and cheerful personality that would light up any room, she showed passion and dedication to creating her unique sound and distinctive style. Natti recalls being the first one to sign up for any talent show around her town and she would perform anywhere she had the chance to, with or without music or a beat. Always humble and true to herself, she constantly thanks her family and friends for supporting her, her dreams and her talent, as they encouraged her to get out of her comfort zone and perform in more professional settings. When Natti was 14 years old, she started experimenting and writing her own songs, and wanting to take one more step toward being a professional artist, she got together with some of her friends and formed the teen group D’Style. With the group, Natti recorded several songs in a professional studio, which gave her a taste of what her life could be. After some time passed, the group disintegrated and Natti decided to pursue a solo career, now with more impetus and motivation than ever. Her career took a turn in 2010 when she was in the studio, working on recording two songs, as she met prominent urban artist, Don Omar. He was there also to record one of his hits and when he heard her sing, he was immediately impressed and captivated by her swift vocals and incredible talent. Don Omar asked to meet her and after a month of exchanging ideas, he asked her to collaborate with him in his single, “Carta Al Cielo.” Natti then was featured again in a song that showcased a new sound for Don Omar, yet it was right up her alley of an urban-house fusion, called “Beyond 3000,” with Syko “El Terror” and Kendo Kaponi. Urban music fans received these two songs with open arms and generated an unprecedented buzz in the social networks, attesting to Natti’s talent and reassuring her that her voice was incomparable.

Natti continued working arduously in maturing as an artist and crafting her musical style. Her devotion for the art and willingness to work fueled her fire to move to the U.S. to pursue her passion and more opportunities in the North American market. Shortly after her move, she received a call from her long time collaborator and supporter, Don Omar, with a message that would change her life forever. Her dedication and positive attitude toward recording made her a delight to work with and everyone in his label, Orfanato Music Group, enjoyed having her there. That was the turning point for her career as she was officially signed as part of the record label.

With a recording deal on the table, Natti put the pedal to the metal, composing songs and working endlessly in and out of the studio to create the perfect compilation of her songs. It was in 2012, after years of commitment that Natti reaped the fruits of her hard work, celebrating the release of her debut album, “All About Me.” This album included the singles “About Me” and “Gone,” songs she cites as some of her favorites because they speak to her soul and show her true self in the lyrics. This album was entirely in English and displayed a fusion of styles ranging from house to techno and a touch of urban, not to mention always with her signature powerhouse voice.

Supporting the release of “All About Me,” Natti did yet another project with Don Omar for the international hit, “Dutty Love,” song that launched her into mainstream media. The song helped Natti reach the top of several Billboard charts and dominate the radio waves in the U.S. and Latin America. Following the success of this collaboration and her debut album, Natti worked with high-caliber artists such as Tony Dize and Farruko, which helped her reach an even broader audience, making her a household name.

Currently, Natti is working on promoting her latest single, “Grind,” and the music video accompanying the song. The artist is also working on her sophomore album, which is scheduled to be released in 2016, together with a brand new webpage. This year, Natti is focused on growing her social media presence to connect more with her fans and have a more direct way of communicating with them, hear what they want and incorporate their ideas and feedback into her music. Natti assures 2016 will be filled with many performances and surprise collaborations that will delight her fans.

With an imminently successful new album and a hot new single that is taking the industry by storm, mixed with her unparalleled talent and determination to succeed, there is no doubt that 2016 will be the year Natti Natasha breaks through as the revelation Latin pop artist of our generation.
